Deck for kit playhouse
The client bought a kit playhouse and realized they needed help putting it together and also a place in the yard for it to go.
Max built them a sturdy deck that will outlast the playhouse, so as the kids grow out of it the deck can be put to new uses. We chose a non-toxic soy-based weatherproofing with stain to finish it off called Soy Guard, available from Ecohome in Berkeley.
He made the railing low enough (20" high) to keep it in scale with the playhouse, giving kids the feeling of being grown-ups in their own house
(and amusingly making grown-ups on the deck look like funhouse giants). The deck is 10'x10' and the playhouse, called Savannah by Big Backyard, is about 6'x 4'.
